PSI is currently training 3 of the recently registered co-operatives to assist in wildfire suppression and stack-burning/fuel reduction .Their services are being introduced at R1600 for a 12 hour day shift, and R3000 for a night shift. These prices will be increased substantially from March 2016.
The Paardeberg Wildfire Training project manages and coordinates fire fighting strategies between farmers, labourers and regional entities like Working on Fire, Working for Water, Cape Nature and Volunteer Wildfire Services. Prescribed and stack burns are used as practical training opportunities, and are supplemented by workshops offered by the municipal fire departments and Working on Fire.
