PSI Tourism Project
- Status: Incubating Projects
- Date: 2010
The PSI Tourism Project was initiated in 2013 to grow the regional economy by supporting and encouraging sport, leisure and cultural events that will draw tourists to Paardeberg. It is centred around a fledgling business created through the PSI NatReM project, through which the PSI undertook to create sustainable jobs in the Paardeberg area. Eight nature guides are to be trained for the PTP. The project will initiate events like farmers’ days, harvest festivals, country walks, cycling events and birding activities. “Community hacks” to clear alien vegetation art and wine routes, as well as indigenous flora demonstrations may be planned for 2014/ 2015. It is currently engaged in exploring tourism options around the De Poort Heritage Village facility in Paarl.
